The app
Pocket Cameraman is a camera app that guides you into a pose and takes the photo for you. It is made so that it does not need to know anything about you.
- No account. There is no sign-up, no login and no profile.
- No analytics and no ads. The app contains no tracking, advertising or crash-reporting software.
- No servers. The app does not send anything over the internet. It works with flight mode switched on.
- No data collected. Because nothing leaves your phone, we have nothing to store, share or sell.
Your photos
The photos you take are kept inside the app, on your phone. They go to your phone’s photo library only when you tap “Save to phone”. We never upload them, and we could not: there is nowhere to upload them to.
Deleting a photo or a photoshoot in the app removes it from the app for good. Photos you have saved to your phone stay in your photo library until you delete them there. Removing the app removes everything the app kept.
Your phone may copy photos as part of its own backup or gallery sync, for example iCloud or Google Photos. That follows the settings of your phone, not of this app.
How the app sees your pose
To guide you, the app has to see where your head, shoulders, elbows, hands, hips, knees and feet are. A small pose-detection model finds those points on your phone, in the camera picture, while you stand in front of it. It does not recognise who you are. The picture is not stored for this and not sent anywhere. The model reads the picture; it never changes your photo.
Permissions
- Camera, to guide your pose and take your photos.
- Adding photos to your library, asked when you tap “Save to phone”. This lets the app add a photo. It does not let the app look through your library.
The app does not ask for your microphone, your location or your contacts.
Links out of the app
One of the photo tips links to a web shop where you can look at phone holders. It opens in your browser only when you tap it, and from there that shop’s own privacy policy applies. It is a plain link today. If it ever becomes an affiliate link, this page and the app will say so.
This website
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other companies: fonts, pictures and scripts all come from this one domain. It is hosted on Microsoft Azure, which keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, time and the page asked for, to run and protect the service. We do not look into those logs to follow visitors.
If you email us, we use your address to answer you. If you ask to hear when the app is out, we send you that one email and then delete your address.
Children
The app is not aimed at children, and since it collects nothing, it collects nothing from children either.
Changes
If the app ever starts to handle data differently, this page changes first, and the date at the top with it.
